Welcome to McNamara!

Greetings from your Residence Director:

Welcome to Sylvan! My name is Ryan Young, and I am the Residence Director (RD) for McNamara, one of the three buildings located in the Sylvan Residential Area. Whether you are starting your first year at UMass Amherst or are returning for another year, we look forward to meeting you and helping to make this a great year!

This year will mark my second year as the RD in the McNamara cluster. I have a Master’s degree in Higher Education Administration from the University of Central Florida and several years of experience working with students like you! As the RD, I have the amazing opportunity to manage the McNamara cluster and work with the fantastic staff and student groups. Once you arrive on campus, look for me in my office, which is located on the first floor, in room 112, next to the Cluster Office. If you cannot find me there, feel free to leave a message for me at the Cluster Office.

The McNamara staff is excited that you are part of our community! If you are looking for a residential experience that builds upon connections and involvement, then you are headed for the right place! Greetings from your Assistant Residence Director:

Hello, welcome to McNamara! My name is Tashi Zangmo and I am your Assistant Residence Director (ARD). I am a graduate student at UMass Amherst. As an ARD, my responsibility is to work with the Residence Director (RD) to help you make the most of your living experience in McNamara. I assist in the management and operation of the cluster by supervising the Resident Assistants (RAs) and Cluster Office Manager (COM), advising student leader groups, and much more! My office is located on the first floor, with the RD’s office in room 112, and I hope you will swing by to say hi and to let us know that if there is anything we can do for you. Once you arrive on campus, please do not hesitate to stop by the office if you have any questions. I look forward to meeting you soon!

They can answer all of your questions, or direct you to who can answer your questions! The Housing Assignments Office is located in the Whitmore Administration Building, room 235.
