Welcome to Brown!

Greetings from your Residence Director:

Welcome to UMass Amherst! My name is Dorwenda Bynum-Lewis. I will be your Residence Director (RD) for the 2007-2008 school year in Brown Hall. As you are looking forward to beginning this year, I look forward to helping you in any way that I can! I have been at UMass Amherst since 2002, so I can serve as a great resource for you as you begin to establish yourself on campus and in the community of Amherst. You are about to embark on the greatest experience of your life! There are clubs and organizations to join, new people to meet, and, of course, classes to find and teachers to figure out. All of it is within your reach!

Once you arrive on campus, if you ever have any questions or just need to talk, please do not hesitate to come by my office, which is located on the first floor, room 108B, near the Cluster Office. I look forward to having a cup of coffee, or tea, or even a little snack with you. I welcome the conversation, and I welcome you to Brown Hall: “the little tower with the big attitude!”

Greetings from your Assistant Residence Director:

Hello! My name is Dana Alhaffar, and I am excited to be the Assistant Residence Director (ARD) in Brown this year! I am currently working on my doctorate in Child and Family Studies. I am a part-time, live-in, graduate student staff member who will help you make the most of your living experience. I assist in the management and operation of the cluster by supervising the Resident Assistants (RAs) and Cluster Office Manager (COM), advising student leader groups, and much more! Once you arrive on campus, do not hesitate to stop by my office, located on the first floor, with the RD’s office in room 108B, and say hi! I look forward to meeting you!

They can answer all of your questions, or direct you to who can answer your questions! The Housing Assignments Office is located in the Whitmore Administration Building, room 235.
