Welcome to the John Quincy Adams Tower!

Greetings from your Residence Director:

Welcome! On behalf of the John Quincy Adams (JQA) staff, and as Residence Director (RD), I would like to welcome you to a new school year! I am very happy to have you be a part of the JQA community. I am committed to the development of a caring community where compassion for others is valued. I believe learning is about both the individual and the larger community. When we do that together, we create an environment in which learning occurs all the time, both inside and outside the classroom.

We are proud of the many traditions of JQA and we hope you will have a great experience here. JQA is a home away from home for you. You will benefit greatly as you interact with our amazing student body and enjoy the mix of academics, wonderful staff, and campus life that you have come to call “The UMass Amherst Experience.” This past year the students and staff worked closely to cultivate a strong community that promoted cluster pride; without their positive contributions, JQA would not have risen to the heights it has. This year, we would like to see even more participation in the cluster. So, get involved!

I am extremely excited to meet all of you. If you have any questions or concerns once you are on campus, or just want to say hi, feel free to stop by my office on the first floor of JQA, room 102. Thank you!
