Welcome to James/Emerson!

Greetings from your Residence Director:

Hi! My name is Kyle Oldham, and I am the Residence Director (RD) of the James/Emerson Cluster, known as “JE,” in the Southwest area of campus. We are a Residential First Year Experience (RFYE) cluster with a Health and Wellness theme. I am looking forward to aiding you in making your transition to college a smooth and enjoyable one. As the RD, I am committed to fostering an enjoyable yet socially responsible environment. My job is to oversee the James and Emerson residence halls and supervise Resident Assistants (RAs), while collaborating with other departments on campus to provide valuable resources and guidance for you, our students. You will see me in my office, in the Cluster Office, on your floors, in our James Hall gym, and across campus. This is because I believe that being accessible to you is important. I encourage you to stop by my office, located on the first floor of James Hall, room 111, the Cluster Office in the James Hall lobby, or stop me in the hallway if you need anything.

As a staff we strive to foster an environment that is respectful and open to people of all cultures, races, religions, abilities, genders, socio-economic statuses, and sexual orientations. We want you to think of the James/Emerson cluster as safe place where you live, learn, and grow!

Of course, you are a very important part of our community. Your input and participation is cheerfully welcomed. We look forward to working with you this year. Take pride in JE!! Your college and residence hall experiences are what you make of them! We welcome any questions, concerns, or ideas of things that you would like to see happen in our cluster. I love JE!
