The following residence halls are equipped to provide fully accessible on-campus accommodations for students with physical disabilities:

Central Area

Brett Hall (coed)
Brooks Hall (coed)

Northeast Area Knowlton Hall (all-female)
North Residential Area Building A, B, C, D

These seven buildings have wheelchair-accessible student rooms, bathrooms, and common areas. Clearances, hardware, fixtures, and furnishings are designed and installed in conformance with applicable codes for handicapped access.

In the Southwest Area, partial modifications have been made to Prince Hall, a coed facility for graduate and nontraditional undergraduates, and to Patterson Hall, a coed hall for first-year students. Selected rooms and bathrooms have been modified for accessibility in both buildings.

If you are hearing impaired, your room can be modified with strobe lights wired to fire alarm systems and "knock lights" to alert you to visitors at your door. If your vision is impaired, Braille signs are provided as needed.

To arrange for accessible or specially modified accommodations, contact Disability Services at
413-545-0892.

Specialized Telephones

The University provides adaptive devices for physically disabled and sight- and hearing-impaired students. Longer telephone cords are also available for residents in wheelchairs; and public telephones have been installed at wheelchair height in several residence hall lobbies.

Contact the Housing Services Telecommunications Office, 413-545-2103, or Disability Services at 413-545-0892, for information about how to obtain and use these adaptive devices.

Service Animals

If you have a service animal, you may obtain an exemption from the University's no-pet policy. Contact your Area Director or Area Operations Manager to apply for this waiver and to discuss appropriate animal care.
