Section 4 GUIDELINES FOR ADMINISTERING FIRST AID OR CPR When a situation calls for First Aid or CPR response, an RA or ALA must respond first as an agent of the University by calling UMPD or 911 and managing the situation reflecting the priorities and standards commensurate with the position of a UMass Resident Assistant or Apartment Living Advisor, as stated in this manual. If an RA/ALA is currently certified in CPR, First Aid or as an EMT, he or she may choose to respond to a situation in that capacity (provided they have first responded as an RA/ALA and there are no other certified emergency personnel available). If an RA/ALA chooses to respond in their role as a certified EMT, First Aid or CPR responder, he or she is advised that she/he is acting as an individual, not as a Resident Assistant. |
