Co-ed Suites

In McNamara Hall, you can request a suite to share with friends of any sex. Interested students should visit the Housing Assignment Office to complete a Co-ed Suite housing application. Suite housing application.

Gender Free Housing

The Sylvan Area also offeres suites for students who would like to live in a gender-free environment. This option is ideal if you do not want to identify a gender, if your gender identity is in transition, or if you are a friend or ally of those in transition. If you are interested, you should visit the Housing Assignment Office to complete a Gender Free Suite housing application.

Thatcher Language Program

The Thatcher Language Program is an ideal choice for upper-division students seeking fluency in another language. You must demonstrate proficiency in the language you wish to study (Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, or Spanish) to be admitted into the program and, once in, speak the language in the residence hall. A comfortable, small-group setting allows you to practice your conversational skills at your own pace while enjoying a variety of social and
cultural activities. Students in the program must also enroll in a two-credit conversation course conducted in Thatcher. For more details, contact the Thatcher Language Program Coordinator at 413-545-1659 or email thatcher-language@acad.umass.edu or visit the Thatcher Language Program web site.
