Student Leadership Development
Education 393A

The Student Leadership Development course is a one credit, nine-week class designed to enable student leaders to begin developing their leadership skills. The topics covered will allow students to: gain skill development on a range of topics; build community connections; explore literature related to leadership theory; increase self awareness and awareness of others as members of social groups; and strengthen residential student leadership programs.

The class is open to any student that may be interested in leadership. Students can register for Educ 393A through SPIRE. Please note that section 1 is specifically for first year students, however, first year students can register for any section.

In Fall 2007 the course will begin meeting the week of September 16 and will have the last meeting the week of December 26.

The Best Things about Student Leadership Development:

  • It gives you the chance to develop your leadership abilities and teaches you skills that you can use in the real world
  • It will give you the opportunity to meet new people who share similar interests to you and build connections
  • It only meets once a week
  • It's fun and you will learn a lot! For questions about the course, contact Chris Haigh, Leadership Development Specialist at chaigh@gw.housing.umass.edu or by calling 413-577-2329
