It is the mission of
Housing and Residence Life to create and maintain living environments
for resident students that are economically and physically viable,
developmentally challenging, supportive of diversity, and conducive
to meeting the needs of students in the achievement of their academic
goals.
Housing and Residence Life
at the University of Massachusetts runs one of the ten largest
housing systems in the United States. We have the capacity to house
approximately 12,000 students in 45 residence halls, and 345 families
in two on-campus apartment complexes.
Housing and Residence Life
employs approximately 300 staff full-time in professional, clerical,
and custodial and trades positions. We also employ over 1,000 student
employees
in the halls, the student security program, recycling and grounds,
Family Housing, Housing
Assignments and in residential area housing
offices.
Housing and Residence Life
provides residential staffing and educational programming, maintenance
and custodial care, capital work, recycling and grounds work, computer
and cable television services, room assignments, family housing and
child care.
