Temporary
Housing
Housing Services provides temporary accomodations
when demand for on-campus housing exceeds capacity. The information
below will help you better understand the two types of temporary accomodations
that will be utilized this fall.
Temporary Residence
Hall Space
The temporary space
in residence halls is typically public spaces (lounges) that
have been converted into secure student rooms. These spaces are equipped
with most of the same features found in permanent spaces including:
- Beds, desks, shelves, dressers and a place
to hang clothing and windows.
- Phone jack and ethernet connections
- A door with the same lock system
as permanent rooms
Students will be re-assigned to permanent
spaces as they become available. If the Housing Assignment Office is
unable to re-assign students in residence hall temporary space by the
end of the fifth week, these residents will have the opportunity to
stay in their space for the fall semester. They will receive a permanent
space for spring semester and will be assigned before any returning
students are given a change of assignment.
Temporary Hotel
Housing
The temporary hotel assignments
are rooms in local hotels. These spaces are double occupancy
with two beds. All of the amenities typically offered to hotel
guests will be available to the residents assigned to the hotels. The hotels
utilized by Housing Assignments are either within walking distance or are
accesible to the public transportation system in the area.
Students will be re-assigned to permanent
spaces as they become available. Students assigned to hotels are the
first priority for re-assignment and should expect to receive a permenant
space with the first 3-5 weeks.
Please Note: Students assigned to temporary
housing assignments are expected to abide by all provisions of the
Residence Hall Contract and the Residence Hall Manual.
Questions concerning temporary housing should
be referred to the Housing Assignment Office at 413-545-2100.
