Room Selection Process for Fall 2007

For Newly Admitted Freshmen

Newly admitted freshmen may sign up for housing on SPIRE from June 6 through July 20. Freshmen who are attending a New Student Orientation should wait to apply for housing at their orientation session. Assignments are NOT made on a first come, first serve basis but rather based on a priority system. See Priority page. Students who are not attending an orientation may apply on their own through SPIRE. Before accessing the preference application students must first sign the residence hall contract and fill out a five question housing profile. Students should only sign the residence hall contract if they are positive they want on-campus housing. The residence hall contract is legally binding and once signed, a student is subject to the cancellation fee schedule if they wish to cancel. Assignments will be released on August 6, 2007 on SPIRE under Assignment Notification. See New Students page.

For Transfer Students

The University guarantees freshmen and sophomores housing. Juniors and seniors are not guaranteed housing; however, it does look positive that we will be able to house most, if not all students that apply. Transfer students are able to access the preference application on SPIRE from June 4 through July 20. Students who are attending an orientation before July 20 should wait until their orientation session to apply. Assignments are NOT made on a first come, first serve basis but rather based on a priority system. See Priority page. For students who have an assignment for the fall and wish to request a CHANGE:

Students who wish to request a change of assignment for the fall can access the preference application on SPIRE from June 4-July 6 to do so. Students may request up to fifteen preferences on the application and may request North, Singles, and Shared Rooms. If we are not able to match a student’s preferences, the student will remain in their current assignment for the fall. Assignments will be released on August 6, 2007 on SPIRE under Assignment Notification. See Current Students page.

For Current REQUIRED students who DO NOT have an assignment

The University guarantees freshmen and sophomores housing. Current freshmen and sophomores who have not yet applied for housing may access the preference application on SPIRE from June 4 through July 6. Students may list up to fifteen preferences on their application. It is recommended that students list as many choices as possible, as they will be participated in the late process and spaces in desired residence halls may be limited. Assignments will be released on August 6, 2007 on SPIRE under Assignment Notification. See Current Students page.

For Current NON-REQUIRED students who DO NOT have an assignment

The University does not guarantee juniors and seniors housing. Current juniors and seniors who have not yet secured housing for the fall may apply for housing on SPIRE from July 27-August 10. Students who apply will be assigned regardless of whether or not we can match their preferences. Students who apply and then decide to cancel will be subject to the cancellation fee schedule. Assignments will be released on August 17, 2007 on SPIRE under Assignment Notification. See Off Campus Students page.
