Shaha: The Storytellers
We are a diversity peer education troupe at the UMass Amherst. Our shows are educational, entertaining and thought-provoking.
Have you ever experienced racism, classism, heterosexism, ableism, and other forms of oppression? Want to learn more about social justice?
Shaha members perform skits inspired by their own experiences. These performances will open your eyes to how social justice issues manifest in our day-to-day lives, and open the door to discussion. Each performance lasts approximately 45 minutes and is followed by a discussion between the cast and the audience.
Shaha: The Storytellers support Residential Life's commitment to creating and sustaining inclusive, socially-just communities by providing opportunities for students to learn about and reflect on issues of inclusion, diversity, and social justice through theatre-based peer education. Shaha strives to promote self-awareness, increase dialogue, foster cross-cultural understanding, and inspire students to stand up for themselves and others.
