If you are interested in any of the First Year
Halls but are not going to join one of the Residential Academic Programs:
While at NSO, you will have the
opportunity to submit your housing preferences for
fall 2008. When you access
the housing preference application you will be able
to rank in order the first year themes by area you would like
to join. In addition, you can rank other areas of
campus you prefer and any of the living and learning or special
housing options we offer.
Please note we cannot guarantee
an assignment in a first year hall. Placement will be determined
by
the
availability of space. To be an on-time applicant
for the fall, submit your housing preferences by
July 18,
2008. We will do our best to honor roommate requests.
Your and your roommate request must have the same
housing preferences at NSO and request each other
as roommates
on the preference application to be considered.
If
you are interested in joining a Residential Academic Program (RAP):
Undestand
that joining a RAP is a 2-prong
commitment involving both specific
academic courses and a designated residence
hall.
You must decide if the Residential First Year
Experience themes and the RAP fit
with your academic/personal interests.
Steps
to take at NSO:
You will receive information about these
communities in the first year halls and
other areas of
campus.
You will have an advising appointment
where you will confirm the academic
learning community you have
chosen prior to NSO OR you will get
the opportunity to choose
one at this time.
You will enroll in
the related courses designated for the program you choose.
You will attend a Housing Session where you will indicate
your housing interest
on an
on-line application.
If you have
chosen a RAP prior to NSO,
you will
confirm that choice
during NSO.
