Graduate Student Positions

Graduate Assistant Positions

Each year the Residential Life department seeks qualified applicants for several graduate assistant opportunities. During the fall semester, we accept applicants for unexpected vacancies which may occur during the current academic year.  During the spring semester, we accept applicants for vacancies/possible vacancies for the following academic year. If there are no confirmed vacancies, we will still collect applications in the event any occur.

Qualifications

For all positions candidates must be enrolled as a full-time graduate student in a degree granting program at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Additionally, strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work with a diverse population are required.  Finally, an interest in working with residential students is essential.

Compensation packages vary by position. Please refer to the specific position description for details.

Although there are no current openings, applications are currently being accepted for all positions to create a pool in the event of a possible opening. Applications received by the Priority Consideration Deadline of April 15, 2012 will be considered first.

Please read the following checklist carefully, and be sure to complete all steps.

• Save document as "YOUR_NAME_Grad_application"
 

1. APPLICATION QUESTIONS
• Complete Application Questions for each of the positions for which you are applying
• Save document as "YOUR_NAME_Grad_questions"

  2. RESUME
• Save resume as "YOUR_NAME_Grad_resume"
 

3. SUBMIT MATERIALS
In one e-mail to gradsearch@gw.housing.umass.edu include the following:
• Application Cover Sheet
• Application Questions
• Resume

 

4. REFERENCES
Candidates are required to submit the name and contact information for 3 professional references. These individuals will be contacted by the department only if a candidate is offered an interview.

  Completed reference materials will be due by the time the candidate's interview is conducted.
