Graduate Assistant Positions

Each year the Housing and Residence Life department seeks qualified applicants for four different graduate assistant opportunities. During the fall semester, we accept applicants for unexpected vacancies which may occur during the current academic year.  During the spring semester, we accept applicants for vacancies confirmed for the following academic year.

Qualifications

For all positions candidates must be enrolled as a full-time graduate student in a degree granting program at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Additionally, strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work with a diverse population are required.  Finally, an interest in working with residential students is essential. 

Compensation

Compensation packages vary by position. Please refer to the specific position description for details.

How to Apply

There are currently confirmed vacancies for the Assistant Residence Director Graduate Assistant position within the department for the Spring 2010 semester. Therefore, we will be collecting applications until November 23, 2009 at 12pm for these positions. However, please note we will still be collecting applications for any unexpected vacancies within our other three Graduate Assistant positions. If a confirmed opening occurs through the remainder of the 2009-2010 academic year for any of these additional positions, a selection process will occur with those applications received by the deadline of November 23, 2009 at 12:00pm.
