a first year student, may I apply?
In order to apply, a student must have lived in a residence hall for at least
one full semester at the time of application.
- I'm
a transfer student so I can't get a transcript from UMass. What
should I do?
See if you can get a copy of your transcript from your previous institution.
If this is not possible, then check at the Registrar's Office to see if they
have a copy of your transcript from your previous institution. If not, we
will accept the application because transfer students must have a 2.2 in
order to be accepted to UMass. As a reminder, your UMass GPA must be a 2.4
to be selected.
- How
many openings are there?
We expect about 50-75 openings available for the spring semesters. For the fall
semesters, we expect 150-200 openings available.
- How
many people have applied?
There are approximately 400 applicants.

the timeline? How will I know if I get a position?
Specific dates and times are published prior to the beginning of each selection
process.
The general timeline is as follows:

and recommendations.
- Applications are reviewed
by Residence Life staff.
- Letters are written to each
applicant informing them of whether or not they have
been granted an interview.

as to whether or not they have been hired.

I need to attend another one?
No, the informational sessions are optional, however if you feel you need
more information, then the sessions are there for you.

I'm not selected to be a RA, what do I need to do to apply again?
Previous applicants will need to reapply. For information on how to apply,

Housing Services home page.

am a graduate student. Can I apply to be an RA?
Graduate students can be RAs in graduate housing. There is a separate process
for graduate students wishing to be RAs. Candidates should contact Mohammed

students should not take an application from this RA Selection Process. Go to the Graduate Resident Assistant page for an application.

an RA but went abroad for a semester and want to be an RA again,
do I need
to re-apply for the position?
No, you do not need to re-apply for the position, but you do need
