Judicial/Administrative Assistant
General
Summary of Position
The Judicial/Administrative Assistant
(JAA) assists Residence Life staff by providing clerical and administrative
support relating to
the discipline and Judicial system, as well as other tasks. This
is an hourly position. The rate of pay is $.50 per hour over minimum
wage,
currently $8.00/hour.
Examples of Duties and Responsibilities
- Processes all administrative paperwork associated
with the Judicial process at the Cluster or Area level.
- Inputs data from Witness Statements into the “Judicial Officer” software.
The A/RD or AD assigns appropriate charges and provides
the appropriate description of charges for the JAA to input.
(The
JAA does not
assign charges or hold judicial conferences.)
- Prints Judicial History forms, Notice of charge letters,
Finding letters, and Tracking forms for review by the A/RD
or AD. Obtains
signature of the A/RD before mailing letters.
- Delivers signed Notice of Charge and Finding letters
to the mailroom or mail sorter’s mailbox.
- Performs administrative tracking responsibilities including
tracking assignments and completion of educational and
creative sanctions.
- Maintains confidentiality concerning student
records and
information.
- Other cluster administrative work as assigned
by the A/RD or AD.
Qualifications
- Understanding of and commitment
to high–level security
and confidentiality.
- Basic computer data entry and word
processing skills.
- May not live in the cluster in which they
are employed.
- Must be free of current judicial sanctions.
- May not have other
roles within the campus community that may result in a possible
conflict of interest.
Supervision
Received 1. The Residence Director (RD) or Area Director
(AD) supervises the Judicial/Administrative Assistant and provides
in-cluster
training
to review expectations, use of office keys and office etiquette.
Training
Judicial/Administrative Assistants attend
one of the scheduled training sessions (GroupWise and network orientation,
overview
of the judicial
system and judicial computer training). There is one
training for Spring 2007 in the Crampton Computer Training Room.
JAA staff are expected
to arrive promptly and commit to the full three (3) hour
training to be eligible for the position.
