What is the application deadline?
All application materials must be postmarked
by Friday, February 8, 2008 in order to receive priority consideration.
Applications will be accepted until all positions are filled.
What are the qualifications?
Minimum:
- Enrolled as a full-time graduate
student in a degree-granting program at the University of Massachusetts
Amherst.
- Strong interpersonal communication
skills and the ability to interact with a diverse population.
- Demonstrated experience and skills
related to program development, student development and working
with groups.
- Familiarity with residence hall systems
and/or other education administration or management experience.
Preferred:
- One or two years experience living
in a residence hall system.
- One year experience as a Resident Assistant,
student organization leader, and/or directly related work experience.
What is the stipend/What are the benefits?
ARDs working 30 hours per week are required to hold at least fifteen office hours each week (Monday-Friday) between the hours of 10:00am and 5:00pm. Compensation for the 30-hour position for the 2007-2008 academic year includes a total stipend of $17,883, tuition waiver, and a furnished apartment valued at $4,200, (the value of which is considered part of the total compensation package).
ARDs working 20 hours per week are require to hold at least ten office hours each week (Monday-Friday) between the hours of 10:00am - 5:00pm. Compensation for the 20-hour position for the 2007-2008 academic year includes a total stipend of $11,498, tuition waiver, and a furnished apartment valued at $4,200 (the value of which is considered part of the total compensation package).

Do you allow pets in the staff’s apartments?
The University prohibits pets in the residence
halls (except fish in tanks no larger than 10 gallons). Exceptions
may be granted for animals required by staff with hearing or sight
disabilities.
