Newly admitted freshman and transfer students who miss the housing application deadline will have the opportunity to participate in the Late Spring Assignment Process to secure an on campus assignment for spring 2015. Since all on time applications have been processed at this point, we expect that most available spaces for transfers will be double occupancy rooms in Sylvan. First-Year students will be assigned to available spaces in a first-year hall.
Process for Participating in the Late Spring Assignment Process
Between January 6th and January 14th, send an email to Living@umass.edu rank ordering all areas of campus. Please note: North Apartments are billed at a significantly higher rate and should only be included if you are interested in Apartment-Style housing.
After all on-time housing requests have been processed, we will begin assigning Late Applications on a first-come, first-served basis. Students will receive email confirmation of their assignment status when they have been assigned to a space.
NOTE: By submitting an email request, students are indicating that they will accept any available assignment. Students who receive a housing assignment and later cancel their space, will be subject to the cancellation fee schedule detailed below.
Cancelling Your Housing Contract
New students may cancel their preference application without charge by contacting the Residential Life Student Services by phone until 5:00pm, Thursday, January 8, 2015. Students who decide not to attend the University or not to live in on-campus housing and who receive an assignment on January 9, 2015 will be subject to the cancellation fee schedule below.
